Varicose veins can cause symptoms that include pain, swelling, itching, feelings of heaviness, aching, and more. This 40-year-old female teacher came to us hoping to irradicate her varicose veins and relieve her symptoms.
At The Vein Institute. she was evaluated by Dr. Gardner. He determined that Endovenous Thermal Ablation in conjunction with Microphlebectomy would be the method of treatment. These are both in-office procedures. Endovenous Thermal Ablation is a vein removal procedure in which a radiofrequency or laser is used to deliver heat energy to the affected vein. The heat energy causes the vein to collapse or close.
What is Microphlebectomy Treatment?
Microphlebectomy is a procedure in which large or medium-sized varicose veins are removed through a tiny incision in the leg. The incisions are just long enough to get the vein out, It produces a cosmetically appealing result. This procedure generally only requires a small piece of adhesive tape (known as a butterfly stitch) to close the incision. There was no negative effect on blood flow or circulation in the leg with this procedure. The blood is simply rerouted to another vein deeper in the leg.
Before and After pictures of the patient show amazing results. Her symptoms resolved, resulting in increased circulation and blood flow in the leg. These results are typical for most patients.
