Endovenous Ablation of varicose veins simply involves using a small laser-guided by ultrasound imaging through a tiny needle stick to cause heat energy to collapse diseased veins. Once the problematic veins are cauterized from the heat, they don’t allow blood to flow or pool within them anymore. Before too long the closed veins are broken down and reabsorbed by the body.

Benefit #3: Minimal Recovery Time

Patients can almost immediately drive and handle light exercise such as walking. Only really heavy exercise and heavy lifting should be refrained from, but only for one week. Discomfort after the procedure is typically minimal and patients need only wear compression stockings for one to two weeks to promote proper blood flow, comfort and healing.

What does ablation mean?

Ablation simply means removal or to be taken away. The wonderful thing about Endovenous Ablation is it does not actually involve an invasive removal of veins. The removal of problematic veins takes place as naturally as possible as the body reabsorbs them after they are cauterized.

What exactly are varicose veins?

Varicose veins can occur when there is increased pressure in veins as the valves weaken or become damaged. Over time, because of genetics and the pressure of gravity, the blood continues to pool in the lower legs which then causes veins to bulge progressively more. Varicose veins are one of the most common signs that a person has venous disease.

How can you tell if you have varicose veins?

Varicose veins are different from other forms of venous disease because varicose veins can be felt under the surface of the skin. Other forms of vein disease, such as spider veins, cannot typically be felt. Varicose veins are often typically enlarged and greater than one-eighth of an inch in width. They also often appear to be bulging, twisted, pouched, or thickened.  Also, they are commonly painful.
